Day 26 - A book that changed your opinion about something
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. Namely it changed my mind about classics of this time period and genre. You have to understand, I read Little Women years ago, and it was so outside of the sort of things I am attracted to in books that I, well, hated it. I was intensely against the idea of ever reading anything like that again, and I sort of lumped all the romantic books of the time into this one category of “AVOID”.
Then a friend of mine talked about this book, and it sounded ridiculously good. I tried it. And it was ridiculously good. Though I’ll take this opportunity to say that I feel many readers interpret this book incorrectly. It’s not a romance for the ages. It’s about how obsession breaks people. It’s haunting and dramatic, and I was shocked by how much I enjoyed it.
It’s become another of those books that knocked me on the head and reminded me I should be trying more diverse things.
